For over 50 years, Emmanuel Christian Seminary at Milligan has brought together strong academics, a commitment to ministry both at home and abroad, and true discipleship in a loving Christian community in order to train the next generation of leaders in ministry.

Scholarship

Emmanuel offers carefully constructed and tested theological education for the 21st century, fully accredited by the Association of Theological Schools (ATS). Our academic programs represent the best blend of biblical, historical, theological, and ministerial studies. Whatever your interests in ministry, our programs of study will provide a foundation you can build upon for the rest of your life.

You will learn from professors who care about more than the memorization of theological arguments and dates in church history; they are concerned about how the information you learn will help you in your ministry, whether you are preaching and teaching or serving the Kingdom in other ways.

It’s important that your seminary education also address you as a person in ministry. Spiritual formation courses, faculty mentoring, and supervised internships are designed to help you follow God’s call.

Community

Emmanuel is a supportive community of faith and learning, where faculty, staff, and students come together in a unique way on a beautiful campus in the midst of the Appalachian Mountains. There is a healthy and active campus life, and students’ spouses and children are encouraged to become involved in the life of the seminary community. Unique to most seminary campuses, Emmanuel has on-campus housing available, where you can be surrounded by a community of fellow students and their families, and your classes are within walking distance of your home.

Faith

How long you remain in ministry and how well you can maintain your energy and enthusiasm is heavily influenced by your preparation and training. Developing a deep and lasting well of spirituality that gives drink to passionate ministry through disciplines of study, prayer, discernment, fellowship, and worship is the Emmanuel ideal. The seminary offers various formal programs, as well as more spontaneous events that grow out of the atmosphere of freedom and spiritual commitment within the school.
