The Christian Church

Crossroads Christian Church belongs to a fellowship of non-denominational churches known as the Restoration Movement. Organized in the 19th century, the Restoration Movement is a voluntarily structured brotherhood of nearly 5,000 independent churches in America. It has no headquarters, no hierarchy, and no dues. The unity of the Restoration Movement is found in the bond that comes from commonly held beliefs. Two of the more prominent beliefs are: the Bible is the authoritative Word of God and Christ’s intent for the Church is revealed in the New Testament.

The Organization of Crossroads

Like many of the churches of the Restoration Movement, Crossroads Christian Church is governed by a Board. The Board consists of Elders and Deacons, who are elected by the church membership for the purpose of monitoring the church’s fiscal and spiritual responsibilities. But while Crossroads is governed by a Board, it is also "Elder Led," according to the New Testament pattern. (I Timothy 3:1-7; Hebrews 13:17) In addition to the monthly Board Meetings, Elders meet separately to discuss the general direction and spiritual condition of the church. This is part of their function as Overseers and Shepherds. (I Peter 5:1-4) Board meetings serve to implement many of their plans. (Acts 6:1-7; I Timothy 3:8-10) While Deacons are considered "under the authority" of the Elders, the Biblical pattern indicates they are to be given ample freedom and initiative to perform their own ministry - separate from the Elders.

The Staff of Crossroads

The Ministry Staff of Crossroads serves at the discretion of the Board...directly under the authority of the Elders. While each position is clearly defined, the staff functions as a team, with each member contributing their time and skills to the success of all the ministries.

The Members of Crossroads

We believe the Bible teaches there is only One Church (Ephesians 4:4) and that it is the Lord who adds to His Church. (Acts 2:47 and Romans 3:6-9) It is also our understanding that local congregations have not been given the responsibility of evaluating or voting on, the claim of a person’s Christianity. Instead, the church is to accept and respect, without prejudice, the individual’s statement of faith. (Matthew 13:24-30, 13:36-43, and 13:47-50) Therefore, all baptized believers (by immersion) are eligible to be members of Crossroads Christian Church. The procedure to become a member is as follows: 1) Although it is not required, we encourage those desiring to place membership to attend Crossroads for six months prior to making any decision. 2) Again, it is not required, but we desire to have any individual or family wishing to join, to speak to a staff member or Elder first. This will allow our leadership to answer any questions that might exist. 3) Our only requirement (other than baptism by immersion) is to have the person(s) placing membership stand before the congregation and repeat the Good Confession ("I believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the Living God, and my Lord and Savior.")

What we believe

We Believe...

  • That Jesus Christ is the only begotten Son of God who died for our sins and rose from the dead. 1 Corinthians 15:1-8
  • That the Bible is the inspired word of God - "useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness." 2 Timothy 3:16
  • That every person has worth as a creation of God, but that "all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God." Romans 3:23
  • That forgiveness of sins and the promise of eternal life are available to those who trust Christ as Savior and Lord. John 3:16
  • That those accepting Christ should repent of sin, confess their sin and be baptized in Him. Romans 10:9; Acts 2:38
  • That each Christan, as a disciple of Christ, should deny himself and his old sinful nature and seek to live under the guidance of the Holy Spirit. Galatians 5:16-26
  • That the church is the body of Christ on Earth and exists to save the lost and edify the saved. Ephesians 4:1-6
  • That Jesus Christ will one day return to Earth and reign forever as King of Kings and Lord of Lords. 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18 (Obviously we cannot take the space here to publish an in-depth doctrinal statement on all our beliefs, but these will give you a general understanding of what we believe at Crossroads)
